Great place to see the sights, it’s high energy and very bright. Good is average, can get annoying being begged by every shop to come and get food. Most of the Kobe beef is not authentic here, a tourist trap for sure. But worth seeing once. We did not eat in this area.

Cool neon lights, but not my cup of tea. Too much people. Quiet overwhelming

This is our second visit. Many tourist & shoppers. We tasted different food of Japanese cuisine. New experience as a tourist to see Japan’s lively entertainment area with neon lights & extravagant signages...

Lived up to all of the expectations that we had. It was a blast to walk around, so many more stores and people than I ever would have guessed! All of the food we had was excellent both from stalls and sit down locations. If you're in Japan and want the feel of being in the crowd at a festival this is a great place to get that!

This is the nexus of Osaka where all the shops, restaurant, and lights converge along the water. There is definitely a lot to do and for that reason it is the most crowded location. I would suggest taking a river cruise to fully appreciate the history and the view. Take a photo of the Glico running man and maybe assume the pose yourself. Just be careful not to bump into the throngs of domestic and international tourists attempting the pose. It’s a great location to wind down a night or for a night out, just be careful of tourist traps.

Frankly, it's more interesting in anime or photos where you don't have a ton of vendors yelling for your attention or have to worry any shady characters catcalling women. If it were cleaned up, it could be a cool place to hang for anyone, but for now it's only worth visiting once for lunch or dinner and go do something else.

A must place to visit when in Osaka. Along the river many restaurants to hang out and also the biggest discount store for 24 hour also there. Can sail along the river. Nice place to hang out. Even though the number of visitors from China Mainland is decresing, still many tourist from SE Asia and domestic.

Busy but a very entertaining district. Lots of food options and also the possibility to walk along the water. It really showvases modern japanese pop culture! I recommend walking around this area during night but you might want to avoid busy weekend!

Cool, free outdoor space in downtown Osaka. Very large bright signs, feels like Times Square in nyc. Easy to get too, with lots of shopping and food places around it. Does feel touristy at points with hosts trying to get patrons to come in and eat at their restaurants. Worth checking out!

Amazing, thats the only word I manage to use to describe it. Yes there are a lot of people on the bridge but if you know those secret places, you can take some nice angled photo and less tourists as well

Colourful and vibrant sightseeing spot in Osaka. The surrounding restaurants are okay but not as real Osaka has to offer. Maybe some takoyaki and walk around the river is enough. There are some night life stuff here such as clubs but they seemed to be a bit overrated.

It's a great thing and also a pity at the same time when a great place like this gets so famous and has gotten so much attention and tourism from abroad. It's great that it adds to the already great feeling of festivity in the air, but one thing I'm sure most tourist would probably not appreciate, is going to another country for a different experience, especially when for cultural exposure purposes, it'll be quite a downer to be surrounded not just by other travellers and their families, but for the country's tourism appeal to work so hard to appeal travellers to the point of localizing entire shops and even hiring an abundance of foreign talents. It's just my opinion, but I feel that it really takes away from the experience of being in another country. That's just me explaining why I gave a "low" score of 4, I'm sure there are plenty of positive reviews, so here's a critical one.

Amazing vibe even on a chilly winter night!! The crowd was stunning, busy with end numbers of activity! Just relax near the river with a drink! The place is accessible by the subway system of Osaka. Good one to visit in the evening!

As a tourist, this place is a must. The amount of food, and I mean out of this world good food - is insurmountable. Lots of fun lights and the energy is great.

An awesome place to eat & experience Japanese food/culture. The streets are lively during the day but really come alive at night when all the food stores are open. There are so many colourful and playful signs along the strip as well. Highly recommend coming here when in Osaka

It's alright for a tourist spot. Lived in Osaka for 7 months, I still don't know why the running man is so famous...

Great place for food selections, it comes with many famous food with giant logos, also famous for many used luxury goods stores. But for shopping experiences, there are many places in Osaka better than here.

The atmosphere and streets are bustling with people. There are a swarm of restaurants and bars along the canal and the corresponding streets. Every street you turn into there are restaurants and bars. These tiny restaurants and bars adds to the uniqueness of the Osaka experience

At night, this place is really pack with foreign tourists.People is just so keen to take photos here. There are so many drug stores here and prices are very competitive.Nearly all the shops employs foreign workers to tailor to the big number of tourists. But,you can only get tax free if the total purchase is more than 5000yen.Usually, there is a special counter to cater for tax free purchase.Happy Shopping!

Great place for foodies, and those wanting to try out popular Japanese dishes! The atmosphere is lively and there are lots of friendly/happy people. It’s crowded most of the evening so if you wanna get into places quickly, it’s best you come around 1700–1800. The experience is cool and it’s a place you can visit many times!

An excellent spot to try many different types of Japanese foods from snack foods to desserts. A very large tourist attraction spot for food goers alike. There are also many Drug and Cosmetic stores around, they have lots of different flavoured Kit Kats!

Tourist spot to see an iconic billboard of a Japanese company. Very busy with food spots along the canal. Beware of ladies (and men) trying to get you to go into their clubs/strip joints.

Simply somewhere you have to visit when you are in Osaka. Various different restaurants and the place gets really busy during the weekends as both tourists and locals visit the area and you’ll have to queue up for most food stalls. The vibe is completely different during the day and night. Would recommend to come here in the late afternoon & evening.

A great sight to be at, many street food stalls as well! Food is 3/5, not the best I've had in Japan. Only downside is that it's one of the less clean place I've ever been at in Japan.

One of the best experience in Japan with full of shops, restaurants and many lights. Here the night is truly another day.You could expect, that the shops are expensive there, but they aren't, I found some ideas for presents and couldn't find similar and cheaper gifts in other cities. Fortunately I needed to return to Osaka for my flight,so I went back to the shops.

The main reason why Osaka is my favorite place in Japan. The foods here are top notch (considering there are several top / famous restaurants here) and personally, I loved the eccentricity and quirkiness of the place - there's just so much to explore here with your friends. I'll definitely visit this place again.

Great place to visit when you are in Osaka! I recommend going after sunset as the atmosphere is completely different. There are neon lights everywhere and the place lights up with life. There are also plenty places where to eat, we have also tried some street food and it feels like you cannot go wrong. The whole district is not big and we have walked through most of it in about 90mins before we found a good place for a dinner. There are some very good restaurants there.

The Lights, the delicious food, all the shops, so much to love, see and do in this area. A must see area to visit if you are in Osaka. Just know that it does get very crowded and busy when the sun goes down.

A must see tourist attraction for anyone in the area. Dontonbori is particularly enjoyable in the evening/at night, where the buildings are lit up bright, the energy in the street is lively, and there’s restaurants and bars as far as the eye can see. However - as it is a tourist attraction, it has been horrendously crowded every time I have visited. Avoid weekends where possible - if you want to be able to move that is!

Dotonbori is really fun and different than most places. So much food and things going on around. So much people. No drunks or anything bad of the sort, which is great for everyone. Although it is a bit more "adult" oriented. However, the whole family can definitely go and have a good time.

Centre of the city and quite crazy, crowded, life and culture. I enjoy every bit of loitering around here specially along the river. We did a board ride as well. Thank you Dotonbori for all the fun we had.

So much to do and so much to taste. So many food vendors with all types of food. There are also many shops close by in the narrow streets. The bustling main street along the canal though is not to be missed.

Really nice place to walk at the evening. Not too many other things to do at this time in Osaka. Colorful, many stuff to buy, many restaurants. But a lot of places can be occupied at the weekends. Restaurants are a bit pricey.

Dotombori is an amazing bustling area with many restaurants and food stalls where you can go for traditional Japanese cuisine. It reminds me a bit of Taiwanese night markets. It’s a place where it lives 24/7. Dining here is a must-go for any Osaka tourist! I am a food lover, so I could spend walking around here for hours

Very popular tourist area and super busy. Too crowded for us but good for first timers. Choose your restaurants carefully as there are a lot of tourist trap areas here.

The street is a good experience, and the takoyaki is good. However, one can grow tired of crowds, shops and trash very quickly. Best seen at a quiet time, and at night (for seeing the signs lit up).

This place never fails to entertain. A landmark of Osaka to experience the colorful streets and stores and lively people. It is also famous for its street food. I recommend to try a little of everything! It is also full of small traditional stores and huge department stores. You can always negotiate for a discount in the small traditional shops.

One of the best river-places I have ever been to. The decorations and designs are so beautiful and you can experience two different styles in the morning and night.Best place to unwind (river breezes and sunset) and shopping. There are many food choices along the street too!

The LED light brighten the advertisement panel. It is very attractive and the doorway of the restaurant feature different huge seafood icon signboard (octopus, crab, fish) which easily identify what the shop is selling. Osaka most prominent area no doubt fall on Dotonbori

Spent new year here. It was awesome! Few men were jumping from the bridge to the canal in a 3℃ weather! It was a highlight. Japan dosen't really celebrate new year, this jumping off the bridge is their way of welcoming new year.
